Hi. My name is Oliver, but everybody calls me Blogie. This is my brand-new blog about health & fitness. What makes this different from other such blogs is that, I’m no fitness guru. I’m just an average guy who wants to be fit and healthy and everything that comes with it. Please read my About page for a brief background.
I smoke around 1 pack a day (there goes my insurance premium!), and I drink on occasion. I take care not to go overboard, though. Always in moderation when it comes to alcohol intake.
I weigh in at about 71kg and stand 171cm tall. My waistline (groan!) measures 81cm, but that’s when I wear low-waist pants…
What else — I have brown eyes?
According to my last physical — about a year ago — my bloodworks are all OK, my chest X-ray shows no alarming findings, and the doc pronounced me to be in general good health. I’d thought that, having been a smoker for 17 years (yikes!!), there’d be dark spots all over my lungs by now….
The last time I had an exercise regimen was almost 2 years ago. I used to swim about half a kilometer thrice a week; do aerobics daily; and lift weights twice a week. But that all stopped. I’m hoping that when I take it all up again, my body will be just as responsive as before….
Breakfast is as foreign to me as spotted dick. I know, I know, it’s the most important meal of the day. But I don’t get up early enough to have it. The joke in the family was, lunch would be breakfast, dinner lunch, and whatever I ate late at night would be supper. Good thing for me is, I rarely eat anything in between. I hardly ever eat junk food (except beer matches on occasion
), and I very rarely drink colas or any of those toilet-bowl cleaners.
A caveat: I eat healthy. Yes I take meat, but veggies and seafoods are also a staple. I do believe my diet is sound… more or less.
That’s it for an (excrutiating) introduction. It’s not my objective to make this blog a scientific approach to writing about fitness, but it will have lots of empirical data.
OK then. I’m all set to start working out this Monday, 5 March 2007! Holiday Spa here I come!
