I wasn’t able to go to the gym yesterday. I had no plans of missing the session, but a client called and invited me to an early dinner, and I couldn’t say no to that. And then afterwards, a friend called me over to our favorite watering hole…. So I had a few beers and a couple of vodkas last night, and I’m feeling really lousy today. But, I’m heading off to the gym as soon as I post this.
Your friends are one consideration when changing your lifestyle. Friends, clients, family — people you constantly come in contact with. They will have to make some adjustments as well. And that’s not easy. Breaking a routine with, say, your drinking buddy could ruffle some feathers or cause irksome feelings somewhere. That’s what I’m not prepared to face, but it’s inevitable, I guess.
For example, if I finally quit smoking, I’m going to be the odd man out in my barkada. Well, I think some of them don’t smoke, but most of them do. Is this going to be a problem? Not really, not for them anyway. But for me, I think it’s going to be difficult to quit when everyone around you smokes… or am I just making up excuses?
