At Holiday Spa Fitness, I’ve pretty much settled into a routine now. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:30 to around 8 PM (including the time for sauna and shower). It’s important to have a set schedule for working out, for the following reasons:

  • you will reach your fitness goals more surely;
  • it will be easier for you to make the trip to the gym once you’ve gotten used to the routine;
  • other regular activities will stand to benefit as well, i.e., you’ll most probably end up scheduling them as well.

Not to sound boring or predictable, ok? Nothing’s stopping you from doing something on a whim once in a while. However, I believe it’s important to have a few regular activities that are part of a routine. Somehow it roots you, keeps your feet solidly on the ground (while you might have your head in the clouds).

So, my muscle pains in my legs are starting to subside now. Thing is, I just discovered that Ted, my trainer, is a slave driver! Finding out that my muscles have responded well, he jacked up my reps yesterday! Instead of just two sets per exercise, he had me do 3 sets of increasing weight. Well, each succeeding set had less reps though.

Also yesterday I tried that advanced kick-boxing class again. The teacher’s name is Korn (don’t know if I have the spelling right…). It was really intense! I was able to finish the class this time, but I could barely walk afterwards. It wasn’t only kick-boxing: we also had the powerboards and synchronized muscle toning (light dumbbells but lots and lots of reps). But the best (or worst) part was the abs workout at the end of the class. It was torture! But right now I can feel my abs muscles burning, and that only means that the workout’s working.

Next workout, Friday. I wish I could do it everyday, like I used to do 2 years ago. But my trainer says it’s not necessary. It might even be overkill.
