I’ve been regularly working out for barely 4 weeks now, but many people have noticed that I’ve already lost weight. So at the gym today I checked, and true enough, I now only weigh 69kgs! I started with almost 72kgs last 5 May 2007. I can’t believe I’ve lost 3 whole kilos in just over 3 weeks….
Of course it’s not only the 2-hour-per-session exercise that helped bring down my kilos. I have been following my own diet. Goes roughly like this: half the rice I usually consume (or less, or sometimes none at all); absolutely no softdrinks (well, I’ve never been a cola drinker really…except when I mix it in my Cuba Libre hahaha!); and I rarely put sugar in my coffee now.
And, I avoid chicken skin, oily foods, pork fat. When eating chicken, I tend to eat only white meat — it’s no fun, but I guess it simply has to be done. I sorely miss fried chicken drumsticks….
Also, I’ve consciously increased my intake of fruits and vegetables. Well, I’ve never really had a problem eating veggies; I even eat bitter gourd from time to time. Speaking of fruits, my father told us one day several years ago, that he’d read somewhere that it was healthier for the digestive tract to eat fruits and other raw stuff first before the main meal. So that’s what we’ve been doing since then. I don’t know if my digestive system’s really better now, but one thing’s for certain: eating fruits first makes you less hungry.
Truth be told, I don’t know exactly what I did to lose 3kgs. But I’m sure my diet helped a lot. It’s not really my goal to weigh even less than 69kgs, so I think I’ll just maintain my present eating habits. Oh and some health buff told me sometime ago that, for my height (171cm), 69kgs is the ideal weight. But I don’t really subscribe to that.
