It’s summer! I wish I’d started working out a couple of months earlier, so I’d have had more time to get that chiseled physique for the beach. But who am I kidding? It’s going to take at least half a year to reach my 6-pack-abs goal for sure. Oh well, next year’s summer then….
Yesterday was probably the start of the summer heat. When I woke up at 7:30am, it felt like 10 in the morning already. There are lots of things that make Davao City a beautiful place to be any part of the year. But, personally, I dislike the usually high humidity in summer. Well, this is going to mean longer hours in the gym, which is thankfully refreshingly aircoditioned. (So, why do I enjoy the sauna at all?)
Before the Holy Week, my instructor Ted told me he’d be changing my workout program. That starts today. I’m looking forward to it, but at the same time I’m feeling a tad apprehensive. I don’t know if I’m ready for a more intense weights program yet, but on the other hand, I have been getting bored with the introductory routines.
My injured shoulders, thankfully, do feel stabler now. Maybe that’s why Ted believes he can make me do heavier weights for my upper-body routines. We’ll see tonight.
What I like about Ted is that he knows exactly what I want my body to achieve. Some years ago I bulked up after working out with an instructor who thought I looked good with huge muscles. But I don’t want that. In other words, what I want is sexy, not macho. Hehehe
I actually haven’t bee to the gym for almost a week. Last week I was there only on Monday — the Holy Week, you see. Good thing my diet consisted mostly of fish and veggies. Yesterday, though (it was Easter Sunday), I had a very hearty lunch — the lasagna was just awesome, I had a plateful! Dinner, as a result, was just grilled marlin and squid adobo, and no rice. Hopefully I’ll still weigh in at 69kg later….
