To lose some weight (maybe I’m about 10-15lbs overweight now), I’ve gone on a fish diet. It’s not really a strict regimen of fish-only meals, but for a few days now I’ve been avoiding meat. The reason? To avoid fat and cholesterol intake. And since fish is so abundant in my locale, it’s not a very difficult diet to follow.

Fish meat has high protein content, and it’s rich in iodine, and it’s arguably a healthy option to pork or beef. Chicken? I’ve never really been a fan of chicken dishes, so it’s not a hard thing for me to give up. Besides, chicken skin and the dark meat of fowl are crazy loaded with cholesterol!

I’m going to stick to this fish diet for a few more weeks and see what effects it will have on my body.

There simply is now getting around it: weight loss, especially for those who are considered clinically obese, is an involved process. Any quick-fix method being advertised out there can’t be 100% effective nor healthy in the long run. If you’re overweight and serious about shedding those unwanted pounds, you’ve got to commit to a change in lifestyle. For obesity, an even deeper commitment is necessary, as well as participation in certain programs that will ensure a successful and healthy weight loss process. One such program is obesity weight loss surgery.

Round, pink-cheeked babies are just adorable, aren’t they? Parents visibly beam when people remark how plump their babies or toddlers are. Conversely, they suffer anxiety attacks when friends or relatives observe that their offspring look thin. I’ve noticed in a number of new families, parents tend to fatten up their children, for fear of tongue-clicking by other people.

I believe that obesity can stem from this situation. It’s only one of various plausible reasons behind the problem of obesity, but it’s something we should seriously look at. It’s been proven time and again that eating habits in childhood influence how and what people eat as adults. When I was a kid, my folks were very strict about what I ate. Aside from fish and meats, vegetables and fruits were always on the table. I remember, I was punished a few times for not eating my greens. Today, eating all kinds of vegetables is an ingrained habit, thanks to my upbringing. I even eat bitter gourd, and I enjoy it immensely!

Recently a fast-food outlet put up a sign outside their establishment for Sunday aerobics sessions. On the surface of it, the gimmick seems a worthy undertaking. It’s free and open to anybody who wants to join. But… fast food? Of course, I’m sure the ultimate objective is for this shop to sell their goods. Continue reading Zero net effect

Everybody’s now saying that I’ve really lost weight. Remarkably so, some of my friends are saying. But when I checked my weight, it’s still above 67kg. I guess I just look fitter, is all. But then again, my size-29 jeans are starting to fit me again!

So what have I been doing? Let’s see…. For one, I’ve been drinking beer a lot less frequently now. Used to be every weekend, I’d have 6 - 8 bottles of San Mig Light. Also, I’ve been eating much less carbs (rice, bread) than before, maybe less than 2oz. of rice per meal. I’ve been taking in more fish and meat, though. Continue reading My washboard abs… almost!

It’s summer! I wish I’d started working out a couple of months earlier, so I’d have had more time to get that chiseled physique for the beach. But who am I kidding? It’s going to take at least half a year to reach my 6-pack-abs goal for sure. Oh well, next year’s summer then…. Continue reading Summer workout, here I come!

I’ve been regularly working out for barely 4 weeks now, but many people have noticed that I’ve already lost weight. So at the gym today I checked, and true enough, I now only weigh 69kgs! I started with almost 72kgs last 5 May 2007. I can’t believe I’ve lost 3 whole kilos in just over 3 weeks….

My problem now is my appetite. Since I’ve started working out last Monday, my appetite’s been much healthier than ever! After working out, around 8pm, I eat dinner. With rice. But after an hour or so I’d feel hungry again….

No matter how much weights-lifting or aerobics I do, I’m just not gonna get those dream abs without dieting. And by dieting I mean proper eating habits. I’m not about to starve myself just to get washboard abs! But I know I have to watch my intake, and to make sure that I avoid fatty stuff.
